Giraffe calf
Giraffe calf
The giraffe calf is born relatively tall, with still-soft spots and long legs that help it keep up with its mother. In its first days of life, it stays close to its mother, feeding exclusively on breast milk. As it grows, it begins to explore its surroundings, learning to graze on leaves and interact with other giraffes in the group. These learning experiences help it develop the balance, coordination, and social behaviors necessary to survive in the herd.
